Notably, this is an extended holiday weekend with the only competition coming from Haider, a UTV Motion Pictures take on Hamlet that stars Shahid Kapoor. Bollywood Hungama is reporting that multiplexes across India are looking at the best opening of the year with 90%-100% occupancy. It’s the second Indian production to be released in IMAX, following last year’s smash global hit Dhoom 3. In North America, it’s hitting 250+ courtesy of Fox International Productions - the widest release ever of a Bollywood film – and has the distinction of nabbing some IMAX plays at home and abroad. In India, it’s releasing on 4,300 screens and overseas has 852 in what is said to be the first time a Bollywood movie has gone out on over 5,000 screens worldwide. Fox Star Studios’ Bang Bang, a Bollywood remake of Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz-starrer Knight And Day, is rolling out day-and-date today in India, the U.S., the UK, and parts of Asia and Africa.
